What is the Parent Teachers Association?
- Its aims are to further co-operation between the school and homes
- Support homes and parents in their educational work
- Support, through funds, excursions, sports and other activities at school
- Further the balanced development of children
- Raise issues and questions parents may have about education and upbringing
- Act as a platform for co-operation betwwem parents
- Promote values of fairness through awards such as the Hymypatsas (statuette awarded for fair conduct towards classmates)
- Support class activities
What the PTA does
The PTA furthers co-operation between the school and homes by collecting funds and using them directly to further the wellbeing of the children at Ressu. Funds are collected, besides the membership fees, by arranging events such as the Arctic Bazaar, a Porridge party and the Open Doors day. In 2007-08 the PTA bought sports equipment such as iceskates and helmets as well as boardgames and books for the school library. The PTA also awarded funds for class excursions and bought Hymypatsas awards.
In 2008-09 the PTA sponsors after school activities such as weekly dance classes and a drama club.
The PTA Board is elected annually in the General Meeting.
How to Join the PTA?
All parents and guardians of Ressu Comprehensive School students are welcomed to join the PTA. The membership fee is 10e per schoolyear, payable to Nordea 101730-211618 (quote 1300). This membership fee goes directly into the funds used to support activities such as funds for class excursions.
